CROCHET CAMPAIGN
Crochet-The-Change-Campaign
Bullying is when someone repeatedly, and on purpose, says or does mean or hurtful things to another person who has a hard time defending themselves. It is becoming one of the leading causes of increased low self-esteem, poor scholastic performance and school attendance. Children who are bullied are likely to experience depression and anxiety, heightened feelings of sadness and loneliness, changes in sleep and eating patterns, and lost interest in activities that they would normally enjoy.
The Crochet-The-Change Campaign offers solutions to help schools stay educated about the new trends of bullying and teaches a technique to help students develop a keen sense of awareness of themselves and gain an understanding of their emotional responses to conditions they can and cannot control. Crochet has proven to be a calm and fun discipline that enhances focus and mindfulness so students can identify their problems and then articulate their issues and feelings. Our solution easily integrates with a wide range of anti-bullying workshops and crochet projects that enable students to fully realize the benefits of working through differences creatively and effectively.
The 12-week program meets once a week for 90 minutes and is comprised of 75% learning the fundamentals of crochet, 10% creative writing, and 15% educational workshops on adolescent and teenage bullying. Students conclude the program with a learned skill tailored to decrease stress, manage anger, work through conflict, build confidence and increase scholastic performance by culminating the program with a crochet quilted mural hung in the school to display their work and unity.
Crochet-The-Change has been built to travel to schools throughout the world. Please contact us if you would like us to visit your school.
